4. Click on the point you want to mark. An arrow appears, marking the location. To move the arrow, simply click again on the map. |
5. Select from a variety of symbols to mark your location. Several categories are provided, from basic signs to specialized search and rescue symbols. We chose a Hiker symbol to represent the trailhead. |
6. Next, name the location. This name will be appear next to the symbol. We typed the name "Acadia Hike". This is also the name that will appear in your personalized My Maps list. |
7. If you like, you can make your symbol into a link to any web address (URL). In this example, we linked the hiking trail to a park website, containing photos and lots of other information. Clicking the hiker symbol will open this website. |
8. Save your map in a personal My Maps list for future reference. The map is saved under the name you assigned to the symbol. (Our example map is saved under the name "Acadia Hike.") |
9. Share it by e-mailing My Map to a friend, colleague or distribution list. My Map is sent as a link in the e-mail message. |
10. Print My Map in color on your home or office printer. Then take the printed map with you on the trail! (After receiving a My Map link by e-mail, the recipient can also follow the link and print the map.) |
